Each of the four regional councils in Baden-Württemberg (foundation authorities) maintains a register of foundations with legal capacity that have their registered office in the respective administrative district. You may inspect this register.
Church foundations are excluded from this. Information on these can usually be obtained from church organisations.
The following details are entered in the register of foundations:
- Name and address
- Registered office
- Purpose
- Authorisation to represent the foundation and the composition of the bodies authorised to represent it
- Date on which legal capacity was acquired
- Recognising authority
The foundation must notify the foundation authority of any change of address and any change in the composition of the bodies authorised to represent it. However, entry in the register of foundations does not give rise to a presumption of its accuracy.
Responsible authority
The regional council in whose district the foundationhas its registered office in accordance with its articles of association.

Anyone may view the register of foundations without having to give a reason.
Procedure
You can view the documents at the relevant regional council. An informal application to the foundation authority is sufficient.
