The Michaelsberg Hill

Michaelsberg with Chapel, Photo: M. Heintzen

The Michaelsberg Hill, is 268.8 metres (882 feet) high and is considered the local mountain of Untergrombach . At the end of the 19th century, the remains of a Stone-Age colony were found at the Michaelsberg Hill, from which the, archaeological term “Michelsberger Kulturkreis (Michelsberg Culture)“ was derived. For generations, the chapel on the hilltop, with murals that were beautifully painted by Josef Mariano Kitschker, has served as a destination for religious visitors. From the top of the Michaelsberg Hill, visitors have a wonderful view of the Black Forest foothills in the south, the Palatine Mountains in the West and the Odenwald Forest in the north.
